We deliver officially recognised Wine & Spirit Education Trust (WSET) courses for professionals who wish to improve their skills or retrain to work in the wine industry, as well as for enthusiasts who want to learn in a more rigorous and structured manner. We run our daytime courses at The Ship Hotel, Weybridge, Surrey (close to the M25 and just 35 minutes by train from Central London) and at the Conservatory, Britannia Street, Central London (near King’s Cross) and Saturday Classes at Brooklands College, Weybridge. Classes can be tailored to the specific needs of our corporate customers and are often held at their premises or at selected locations in Richmond and Weybridge.
> WSET Level 1 Award in Wines Course (QCF level 1)
Level 1 is suitable for anyone wishing to start their wine, sprits or service education. It provides basic product knowledge and skills in the service and retail of wine, to prepare a person for their first job in hospitality or retail. It is also a good introductory first course for the wine enthusiast who wishes to be introduced in a structured way to wine styles, storing and serving wine, plus food and wine matching.
It introduces candidates to:
- The main styles of wine
- The characteristics of the major grape varieties
- The WSET Level 1 Systematic Approach to Tasting
- Service and retailing of wine
- Social responsibility
- The matching of food and wine
Course hours: 9. 15 am – 5.30 pm.
The course includes 6 hours of tuition and an examination comprising 30 multiple-choice questions, a food and wine matching exercise and a portfolio of tasting notes.

WSET Level 2 Award in Wines and Spirits course is suitable for anyone wishing to broaden their knowledge of wines and spirits. It provides knowledge about the major grape varieties and wine styles from the key wine producing countries of the world, the main spirits categories, and the factors that influence the style, quality and price.

This course is aimed at those employed in the drinks industry who have some previous knowledge of wines and spirits. It is also appropriate for wine enthusiasts who wish to broaden their knowledge in a more structured way.
Course programme:
- Level 2 Systematic Approach to Tasting, food and wine matching
- Grape growing and wine making
- Key wine and spirit producing regions
- Key grape varieties: Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, Riesling, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Pinot Noir, Syrah and Grenache
- Sparkling and sweet wines
- Fortified wines, spirits and liqueurs
Course hours: 9.30am – 2 pm, Saturday mornings for 4 consecutive weeks, including 16 hours of tutoring and a one hour multiple-choice examination. Wine tasting is an integral part of every class.

Level 3 is an advanced course covering 28 hours of tutoring, suitable for professionals and enthusiasts alike wishing to gain in-depth knowledge of wines and spirits. It provides core knowledge of the wide range of wines and spirits around the world to equip professionals in a supervisory capacity with the authority and confidence to make informed decisions in a wide variety of trade situations. For the wine enthusiast it provides a rigorous and structured programme of learning to gain an internationally recognised wine and sprit qualification.

- Wine Tasting; taste, describe and analyse wines using the WSET Systematic Approach to Tasting
- Food and Wine Matching; a guide to the key considerations when matching food and wine successfully
- Social Responsibility; a guide to sensible drinking
- Labelling; learn how to decode and understand labels
- Wine Production; learn about the production factors influencing the style, quality and price of wine from vineyard to bottling
- Light Wines; learn about the styles of wines produced in the key wine regions and districts of the world: France, Italy, Spain, Portugal, Austria, Germany, Greece, South Africa, Australia, New Zealand, North and South America, England and Wales
- Sparkling Wines; learn about the methods of production and the main styles of sparkling wines from the key wine producing countries: France, Spain, Italy, Germany, New World – Australia, California, New Zealand, South Africa
